Eastern Bank recently sponsored a reception at Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in Boston for women and minority business owners. Eastern Bank, BOND Construction, Rollstone Bank & Trust and several others share the spotlight in this week's roundup of local banks, brokerages and construction companies giving back to their communities.  

 

Bank of America

Bank of America volunteers helped decorate the Boston Common with 37,000 flags in honor of Memorial Day, by participating in the Massachusetts Military Heroes' flag planting event. The flags were planted at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to represent every Massachusetts service member who gave his or her life defending our country since the Revolutionary War.

 

BOND

Employees at Boston-based BOND construction services company on June 7 helped update a home belonging to Malden-based Housing Families Inc. The nonprofit provides temporary emergency shelter and affordable housing units as well as an after-school program to homeless families in Boston and surrounding communities.

 

Bridgewater Savings Bank

Bridgewater Savings Bank's charitable foundation has donated $1,000 to the East Bridgewater Police Department's D.A.R.E. Program. D.A.R.E. is a school-based drug abuse and violence reduction program for elementary and middle school students.

 

Charles River Bank

Medway-based Charles River Bank, the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce and the Medway Lions Club are sponsoring a blood drive to benefit Boston Children's Hospital hosted at the bank's main office at 70 Main St. on June 21. The Children's Hospital Bloodmobile will be set up in the bank's parking lot.

 

Eastern Bank

Eastern Bank recently sponsored a reception at Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in Boston for women and minority business owners. Bob Rivers, Eastern Bank president and chief operating officer, and Eastern Bank lending and human resource executives, discussed its programs to support small businesses with the more than 40 event attendees.

 

Easthampton Savings Bank

Easthampton Savings Bank has become a Keystone Sponsor for the first Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity home in Easthampton. The bank contributed $10,000 toward the costs of planning, construction, volunteer recruitment and training.

 

Federal Credit Union

Pittsfield-based Greylock Federal Credit Union has donated $4,000 to the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington to support its ArtSmartTix program and holiday family film screenings.

 

Rollstone Bank & Trust

Rollstone Bank & Trust recently donated $5,000 to the YMCA's Montachusett branch in Fitchburg. The grant will be used to support the YMCA's Working on Wellness program, which promotes health through education, innovation and access to services.

 

Salem Five

Salem Five, on behalf of the Heritage Salem Five Charitable Foundation, recently awarded $15,000 to three local nonprofit organizations. The bank gave $5,000 each to Beverly Bootstraps, Habitat for Humanity North Shore and Harborlight Community Partners Inc., to support programs promoting affordable housing, food assistance and youth programs for needy families.
