RTN Federal Credit Union hosted four ice cream socials this summer for nearly 700 employees at local hospitals and health facilities. HarborOne Bank, RTN Federal Credit Union, U.S. Bank and more are featured in this week's roundup of organizations giving back to their communities.

 

Bay State Savings Bank

Bay State Savings Bank recently participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The bank also made a $500 donation to the ALS Association, and several employees made additional contributions.

 

HarborOne Bank

HarborOne Bank recently donated more than $10,000 to local nonprofits, including the Matt Light Foundation, School on Wheels and the Brockton Visiting Nurse Association.

 

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront of Northeast held Back-to-School Brigade event on Aug.  16, where free backpacks full of school supplies were given to pre-registered military kids.

 

RTN Federal Credit Union

Waltham-based RTN Federal Credit Union hosted four ice cream socials this summer for nearly 700 employees of Lawrence General Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, Benjamin Healthcare Center and Eliza Corp. RTN partners with these and other select employer groups throughout the year to bring the credit union to the workplace with employee activities, information tables, financial education seminars and the RTN to Go mobile branch.

The credit union is currently collecting backpacks and other school supplies to be donated to children in need for the upcoming school year. Donations are accepted until Aug. 26.

 

U.S. Bank

University of Massachusetts-Amherst student Tram Nguyen has been chosen as one of 35 college students to receive a $1,000 U.S. Bank Scholarship. Nguyen is majoring in chemistry at UMass-Amherst, and plans to graduate in 2016.
