Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino deserves praise for recently introducing a plan designed to shield homeowners from skyrocketing property taxes. A revised version of his original plan eventually gained the support of both Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, and Senate President Robert E. Travaglini, a key Democrat, as well as local real estate players before being passed by the state Legislature at the end of its session last week. It now sits on Romneys desk, awaiting his anticipated approval.
