The images at the Superdome in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the recent news articles regarding gang violence and witness intimidation within Boston expose part of our nation’s vulnerable underbelly. The incidence of poverty and violence are not new to our city or others. The issues involved seem intractable and daunting and even our best efforts will fail to eradicate the problem.

Confidence in Community Preservation Act Steadily Growing

Enacted by Bay State lawmakers just five years ago, the Community Preservation Act has been adopted by 103 cities and towns. Twelve more are considering it next spring as it passes its way across the commonwealth.
