The images at the Superdome in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the recent news articles regarding gang violence and witness intimidation within Boston expose part of our nation’s vulnerable underbelly. The incidence of poverty and violence are not new to our city or others. The issues involved seem intractable and daunting and even our best efforts will fail to eradicate the problem.
