Colleges Improve Pedestrian Circulation

This proposed plan for Boston College’s Lower Campus features pedestrian-friendly plazas and open spaces.
The number of college and university students in the U.S. is multiplying. American School & University recently projected “college and university enrollment to grow rapidly through 2013, rising more than 10 percent from today’s number.” Also, in order to create vibrant campus communities and appease abutters pressuring schools to provide more on-campus housing, schools are building amenity-filled residence halls and upgrading old ones to lure students to live on campus.
