Kimpton Group to Buy Hub’s Nine Zero Hotel

A San Francisco-based hospitality company has agreed to buy Boston’s trendy Nine Zero hotel, according to industry sources. Opened in 2002, the 189-room inn is located across from Boston Common on Tremont Street.

Bankers Concerned Following Fraud Case

When Fred Healey, president and CEO of Workers’ Credit Union in Fitchburg, recently received a letter from his debit card company saying information related to as many as 1,000 of his members’ accounts possibly had been compromised in a recent data breach, he was surprised. Data breaches have happened before, but when Workers’ has been affected it typically has involved only a handful of cards that potentially were subjected to fraudulent use.



Check Service Being Offered By Bankers’ Bank Northeast

Client banks of Glastonbury, Conn.-based Bankers’ Bank Northeast were among those affected by the closing of the Federal Reserve’s check processing center in Boston. As a result, Bankers’ Bank Northeast, along with Fidelity National Information Services (FIS), have started converting paper checks into images for client banks and submitting image cash letters to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.



Local Partnership to Assume Equity Office’s Retail Duties

Having handled retail leasing internally since arriving in Boston more than a decade ago, Equity Office Properties is about to delegate those duties to a local partnership, company officials have confirmed. Schaffer & Assoc. and American Retail Properties will oversee approximately 250,000 square feet of retail space in EOP’s Massachusetts portfolio, acknowledged Maryann Gilligan Suydam, senior vice president of the Boston region for the Chicago-based real estate investment trust.



Somerville Group Tops Itself With Planned Church Project

In what will be the largest project undertaken in its 35-year history, a community-based development group in Somerville plans to convert a three-acre church property into a mixed-income community with more than 80 housing units.
