Close readers of this space – and you know who you are – will recall that almost a year ago I profiled a then little-known candidate for governor named Deval Patrick. The column appeared under the headline, “Deval Patrick: A Plausible Mix of Business Savvy and Idealism,” and concluded with some advice: “A lot can happen between now and Election Day next year. But in the meantime, pay attention to Deval Patrick.”
