Artwork for Everyone: Murals Have Gone Digital

The rise of digital printing in the last decade has made it possible to reproduce murals with photographic realism. Now that they are more affordable and less labor-intensive, the artwork is becoming much more mainstream.

According to interior designer Karin Weller of Cambridge, Mass., “If I could have my druthers, if I had a client who didn’t have very much money and had a tiny house, I’d have them spend it all on a mural in the dining room. I’d rather they had a plywood table and a fabulous mural than a bunch of nice furniture and a blank wall. Cover the table with a skirted cloth, get some reasonably decent chairs, and get your bang for the buck with a mural.”
