Protestors Demand Fed Protect Homeowners From Lenders

Protesters in front of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston last Wednesday urged the agency to adopt new rules that discourage predatory lending.

Jeannette and Anthony Forde never expected to become a statistic. Last fall, a perfect storm of events caused upheaval for the pair and their five children. Anthony lost his job as a general contractor. At the same time, the rate for their adjustable mortgage reached a whopping 13 percent. As a result, the family could not afford to pay their loan and the mortgage company filed a petition to foreclose on their four-bedroom Colonial-style home.
