On The Waterfront

For more than three decades The Boston Harbor Association has been the watchdog of the city’s waterfront. Since its founding, the nonprofit has fought to make the harbor cleaner and create a more accessible waterfront. Vivien Li, 54, a Back Bay resident, has been at the helm of the association since 1992. She is credited with supporting the 47-mile HarborWalk along Boston Harbor, lobbying to restore beaches from Winthrop to Quincy and convincing developers to do the right thing. In May, Li was included in Boston Magazine’s 100 Most Powerful People. She talked with Banker & Tradesman about the challenges facing the developers who want to build on the water-front.
