A large parcel in the core of one of Boston’s most affluent suburbs, anchored by a 100-year-old church building, is being offered for development.

The former Weston First Church of Christ, Scientist congregation has decided to worship at other nearby Christian Science churches and has turned its property over to the main church body, which in turn has asked Boston Realty Advisors to market the parcel as a redevelopment opportunity. BRA is seeking buyers who “are well-versed in working collaboratively with local municipalities and residents,” according to an announcement from the firm.

Located at 439 Boston Post Road in the heart of Weston Center, the 0.95-acre parcel is located in a business district a short drive from Route 128 and zoned for office, bank and retail uses. The buildings on site – the 1917 stone-clad main church and is associated outbuildings – total 11,384 square feet. More information about the property can be found at 439bostonpostroad.com. An asking price has not yet been announced.

“Market analytics indicate that the timing is ideal to harvest the property given the abundance of capital chasing ‘suburban-urban’ properties in affluent town centers,” BRA Managing Director and Partner Whitney E. Gallivan said in a statement.
