Employees at Commerce Bank’s main office in Worcester and local branch offices donated 106 winter coats to the Worcester Community Action Council’s annual Coat Drive for Kids, which collects new coats for children from income-limited families.

In this week’s Community Good Works, kids across the commonwealth will get a big boost, thanks to a myriad of organizations donating to schools and child development programs.

 

Academy Mortgage Corp.

Academy Mortgage Corp. partnered with Birchwood Credit Services Inc. to donate $5,000 to Operation Gratitude. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude’s mission has been to lift the spirits and meet the needs of the military and first responder communities.

 

BankFive

BankFive awarded $15,000 from the BankFive Charitable Foundation to Fall River Public Schools for support of a new core curriculum, “National Geographic Learning: Exploring Science.” The new curriculum will be the first time the science program has been updated since 1998, according to school officials.

 

Commerce Bank

Country Bank

Country Bank surprised 29 local schools, who participate in the bank’s Savings Makes Sense School Banking program, with a $250 gift card to Staples. Each school received the donation to help cover the cost of back to school supplies.

 

East Boston Savings Bank

East Boston Savings Bank recently held its 12th Annual 5K Bay Walk/Run. The event raised $65,000, which will go to the East Boston Savings Bank Charitable Foundation in support of various educational programs in the communities that the bank serves.

 

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union announced that the Steve Jones Legacy Fund, established in honor of  the credit union’s vice president of community development, has raised more than $100,000 over the past year. The credit union recently distributed the first donations to the following organizations, all of which were dear to Steve: A Bed For Every Child, Greater Lowell YMCA, Town of Chelmsford Scholarship Committee, My Father’s House, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Chelmsford Youth Basketball League, Catie’s Closet, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lowell.

 

MutualOne

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation donated $10,000 to help students at Saint Bridget School in Framingham meet “High TechSpectations.” The funds will be devoted to upgrading and replacing old, aging and outdated technology in order to provide students with the tools needed to advance in their educational and career paths.

 

Naveo Credit Union

For the seventh consecutive year, Naveo Credit Union participated in the Miracle Jeans Day initiative to raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital, the local Miracle Network hospital. During the month of September, Naveo joined hundreds of organizations and raised $1,500 from employees and members. Naveo then matched the employee donations.

 

RCN
RCN Boston is supporting the new residences for Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ Homeless Youth by donating equipment, and giving more value by enhancing the homes’ telecommunications services. RCN representatives attended the recent formal opening of the new residences in Brighton. The newly renovated and expanded living spaces will serve up to 50 homeless youth at any given time and mothers with their children, nearly doubling its previous capacity.
