New CEO and President Anthony DeChellis continues to mix up the senior management structure at Boston Private, this time creating a new role to oversee technology and operations at the bank.

The company confirmed to Banker & Tradesman that it has hired Maura Almy as its new chief operating and platform officer. Almy for the last five years has been the chief operating officer at Santander Securities, and before that worked at Credit Suisse Americas with DeChellis.

The news comes right after DeChellis on his first ever earnings call suggested more changes to the bank could be coming, particularly through technology.

“Technology can play a huge role in streamlining a lot of activities for clients,” he said. “Some of those technologies can improve our client experience. So we’re definitely going to be focused on how we improve growth looking at the front end of the business where I think there’s a lot of opportunity.”

DeChellis added in the earnings call that a new hire, which the bank would later confirm to be Almy, would be looking at these questions through a technology lens.

The hiring of Almy is the second new position DeChellis has created since starting at the bank. Less than two months ago, Boston Private tapped Paul Simons, another Credit Suisse alumni, as executive vice president and chief of corporate strategy and development to lead expansion efforts at the bank.
