Developers received Boston Planning & Development Agency approval Thursday for 802 housing units, including 378 compact living-style apartments at a pair of properties in Allston and Dorchester.

Developer LBC Boston’s Allston Green development at 20 Linden St. will include 349 compact living apartments in three buildings, including 53 income-restricted units. Developer LBC Boston estimates that the cost savings from the smaller unit sizes will enable it to offer apartments at $300 below average rents for similar new projects in the neighborhood, while offering more expansive common areas, outdoor amenities and ground-floor art co-working space next to six artist live-work units.

Dorchester-based TLee Development is planning to build 29 compact living apartments in a five-story building at 1463-1469 Dorchester Ave. The project was not required to include on-site parking because of its proximity to the Fields Corner station on the MBTA Red Line, but will provide 30 bicycle storage spaces along with a 1,360-square-foot ground floor retail space.

More than 1,200 compact living units in 14 developments have been approved under the city’s pilot program since 2018.

BPDA directors approved 424 housing units at conventional multifamily projects across the city, including the 273-unit Residences at Readville Station. Boston-based developer Ad Meloria plans two residential buildings, one including 151 condos and the other housing 122 apartments.

Other multifamily projects approved at the BPDA board’s final meeting of 2020 included:

  • A 34-apartment development at 11 East Lenox St. in Roxbury, which will utilize cross-laminated timber construction techniques to support the city’s carbon reduction goals;
  • A 30-unit condo project at 515-519 East Second St. in South Boston;
  • A 25-unit apartment building at 1700 Dorchester Ave. and 11-unit condo building at 1710 Dorchester Ave.;
  • A 40-unit income-restricted condo building at 25 Fountain St. in Roxbury.

The approvals are part of 15.9 million square feet of total new development approved by the agency in 2020.
