Taunton-based Bristol County Savings Bank has completed its acquisition of Rhode Island-based Freedom National Bank.
The transaction was finalized on July 31. Bristol County Savings Bank had announced the merger with Freedom National Bank, which is based in Greenville, Rhode Island, in January.
“We are very excited to finalize this acquisition and welcome Anthony Botelho, the Freedom team and Freedom customers into the Bristol County Savings Bank family,” Patrick Murray, president and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank, said in a statement. “We look forward to serving the customers of Freedom National Bank and deepening our ties to the Rhode Island market.”
Anthony Botelho, who was president and CEO of Freedom National Bank, has joined Bristol County Savings Bank in a new role as senior vice president and director of market development.
Following the acquisition, Bristol County Savings Bank has approximately $2.8 billion in assets, according to a statement from the bank, and 18 full-service branches. Freedom National Bank had about $126 million in total assets as of March 31, according to the FDIC.
Freedom National Bank’s two branches in Greenville and Cumberland will operate as Freedom Bank, a Division of Bristol County Savings Bank, until accounts merge on Sept. 28. Bristol County Savings Bank has a Rhode Island branch in Pawtucket and a loan center in Warwick.
Bristol County Savings Bank’s other branches are in Attleboro, Dartmouth, East Freetown, Fall River, Franklin, New Bedford, North Attleboro, Raynham, Rehoboth and Taunton. It also has limited-service educational branches at Taunton and Attleboro high schools.
Bristol County Savings Bank offers wealth management services through its affiliate, Bristol Wealth Group, and insurance services through its affiliate, FBinsure.
