A group of top agents at Compass Boston, led by Managing Director Brian Dougherty, has officially launched The Private Brokerage. The newly formed group will primarily serve high-net-worth individuals, families and their advisors, according to a statement from a spokesperson for Dougherty.

The new brokerage, which will still be part of Compass, will focus on off-market buyer and seller representation. Dougherty’s statement said the brokerage would be “hand-selecting” top Compass agents to affiliate with the brokerage.

Dougherty has been responsible for more than $250 million in sales since 2014 and was recently profiled in Boston Magazine as one of the top-producing agents in the region. He is a founding member of The Private List, an invite-only collective of top brokers that helps facilitate high-end, off-market transactions for clients.

“Accomplished buyers and sellers, their wealth advisors, managers, attorneys, and trustees, have long recognized the benefits of working with a boutique, where incredible resources are absolutely custom-tailored for the individual client’s desired results,” Dougherty said in a statement. “Whether we fly internationally to meet with clients on their schedule or coordinate full service architectural and design services on behalf of our client, our commitment to five-star service and our pledge of loyalty runs long after the property transaction takes place.”

The Private Brokerage will enable affiliated agents in other Compass offices to collaborate and cross-sell in complementary markets like Newport, Rhode Island; Manhattan; Palm Beach, Florida; the Hamptons, New York; Aspen, Colorado; Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Nick Robert, Dougherty’s partner, will join the brokerage as senior vice president. Prior to joining the brokerage group, Robert was part of the senior leadership team for Restoration Hardware in Boston and helped open around 1 million square feet of new retail locations including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, Florida, Scottsdale, Arizona and Greenwich, Connecticut. Robert has also been a licensed real estate advisor with a luxury residential brokerage with offices throughout Greater Boston.
