Owner: Langham Hospitality Group/Great Eagle Holdings
Built: 2019-2021

Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction is nearing completion of renovations to the 312-room Langham Boston hotel following a nearly two-year renovation of the 288,000-square-foot former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston building.

The hotel’s Grana restaurant will be set in the former grand hall of the bank. In partnership with Dyer Brown Architects and interior designer Richmond International, Shawmut is restoring the space to its former grandeur. The perimeter of the ceiling was retained and restored to show off the original decorative box trims and ornate plaster florals, which have been adorned with new gold leaf.

The project includes a renovation of all 321 guest rooms and suites, creation of a new private Club Lounge on the eighth floor and a street-level cocktail pub called The Fed. Guest room corridors, lobby and meeting spaces are receiving new finishes, millwork and furniture.

They Said It:

“The Langham is a landmark property in Boston and has been the backdrop for so many special occasions. We’re looking forward to unveiling the renovated hotel, using our team’s expertise to restore, honor and update the property in the heart of the city.”
