Massachusetts is not the only state in New England for which JPMorgan Chase has plans.

The banking giant recently announced that it plans to open eight to 10 retail branches and 30 ATMs in Rhode Island, as part of its broader plan to open 60 branches and 130 ATMs in New England in the coming years.

Banker & Tradesman reported Tuesday of Chase’s plans to open 50 of those 60 branches in Eastern Massachusetts, but at the time it was unclear where the remaining branches would open.

The Rhode Island branches are expected to open in downtown Providence and near Brown University.

Already in Massachusetts, Chase has received regulatory approval to open six branches in Boston, Brookline, Newton, Dedham and Watertown.
