Harvard University Employees Credit Union has named Katie Armstrong its chief financial officer. Armstrong fills the role previously held by Craig Leonard, who became HUECU’s president and CEO in July.

Armstrong will oversee the finance, collections and compliance functions, and will be part of HUECU’s senior leadership team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Katie to HUECU as part of our senior team,” Leonard said in a statement. “Her wealth of financial experience in the credit union industry will allow her to make an immediate contribution to our strategic planning and business operations.”

Armstrong has worked in financial services for over a decade, most recently as the CFO for Boston Firefighters Credit Union in Dorchester.

She also had roles at Admirals Bank – now Ethic – and the auditing firm Wolf & Co.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the team at HUECU,” Armstrong said. “I am honored to join such a reputable institution and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the Harvard community.”

HUECU has nearly $900 million in total assets and more than 50,000 members.
