A $25 million restoration project culminated with the opening this month of the Residences at Malden Station 138, a 69-unit apartment building that’s the latest completion in Malden Center’s multifamily boom.

Designed by Russell Scott Steedle and Capone Architects, the joint venture of Boston-based Brennan Group and Corcoran Jennison restored the 1895 Browne-Masonic Building on Exchange Street into market rate apartments with 6,500 square feet of retail space.

The fully leased building includes pet-friendly apartments range from studios to two-bedroom units that rent for $1,850 to $3,100. Amenities include a 3,500-square-foot community center, fitness center and roof deck with Boston skyline views.  TMD Design and Boston Art Inc. provided art for common areas.

Eastern Bank and Aura Beauty Lounge have leased retail space.

Project financing was provided by federal and state historic tax credits, housing development incentive program tax credits, a local tax increment exemption, owner equity and a construction loan from Eastern Bank.
