Massport’s next land offering in Boston’s Seaport District could accommodate up to 600,000 square feet of mixed-use development served by its own transit stop.

The port authority says it will issue a request for proposals this spring to develop its 1.1-acre parcel H at 701 Congress St., along with an optional 1.4-acre air rights parcel above the MBTA Silver Line right of way.

Massport said it will rate development teams based upon their diversity, similar to recent projects such as the Omni Boston Seaport Hotel under construction on Summer Street and its parcel A-2, a 600,000-square-foot office building on Congress Street scheduled for completion in 2022. The parcel H development could utilize the 1,550-space parking garage that Massport completed last year off D Street, according to an information package released this week.

Parcel H, currently used as surface parking, contains the Silver Line Way transit stop.

“Massport expects the Parcel H project will build upon its efforts to create a vibrant, mixed-use district, which has evolved into one of the most desirable real estate markets in the country,” the agency said this week in announcing the upcoming offering.

The RFP is the latest in a series of development parcels rolled out by the port authority as it seeks to capitalize on the unprecedented demand for real estate in the Seaport District.

In November, Massport selected Boston Global Investors to develop a 600,000-square-foot office building on its parcel A-2 next to the Silver Line’s World Trade Center station.
