A new early education center at 127 Harvard St. in Brookline will include a fourth-floor indoor-outdoor playground to comply with the town’s licensing requirements.

CBT Architects designed The Center for Partnership in Early Education’s 20,000-square-foot facility with an indoor-outdoor playground on the fourth floor, a reflection of the small lot size and need to provide on-site parking and drop-off areas. Brookline requires private child care centers to provide their own playgrounds, and the CPEE facility’s will be surrounded by a five-foot-tall perimeter fence atop a parapet.

Owner EE for All LLC selected Brookline-based Kaplan Construction as construction manager for the project which will include a children’s library, sensory gym, parent resource center, makerspace, therapy rooms and meeting spaces.

Kaplan was originally hired in 2017 to provide pre-construction services and manage the demolition of Victorian-style office building on the site before construction began in fall 2019.

Other members of the project team include MEP engineer Wozny/Barbar & Associates, civil engineer Bryant Associates and structural engineer Foley Buhl Roberts & Assoc.
