PNC Bank continues its expansion in the Greater Boston area with the opening today of a new branch in Dedham.

The Dedham branch, called a “solution center” by PNC, is the third of five retail offices opening in 2020, the bank said in a statement. Solution centers in Burlington and Chestnut Hill have opened in recent months.

The Boston-area retail branches are part of the Pittsburgh-based bank’s national expansion. PNC has had a commercial banking presence in the Boston region for 15 years.

PNC Bank’s newest branch is at 680 Legacy Place in Dedham’s Legacy Place Shopping Center. PNC’s staff will provide individual consultations with customers, as well as one-on-one demonstrations of PNC’s digital banking technology.

“Our solution centers are not your typical bank branch,” Jon Bernstein, PNC regional president for Boston, said in the statement. “We look forward to showcasing best-in-class technology and welcoming customers and the community at our newest center in Dedham, followed quickly by the opening of centers in Lynnfield and Boylston Street-Boston.”

The Dedham branch has an ATM and banking kiosk, as well as technology allowing screen-mirroring capabilities from customers’ phones or tablets to project to large plasma screens for hands-on demonstrations of PNC apps or a guided digital experience, the bank said.

The office also has work stations that let PNC consultants carry portable tablets to work with customers wherever they are most comfortable within the solution center and conversational gathering spaces to encourage conversations in a more relaxed and comfortable setting.

Before opening the solution centers, PNC began a follow-up to its digital-first entry into Boston. Those offerings include a digital-only high-yield savings account and PNC Virtual Wallet.
