Rockland Trust will open a new branch on Jan. 29 at 170 Needham St. in Newton.

The branch will be led by Betty Velasquez, managing a team of five relationship bankers.

The location features a modern design with an open floor plan and conversation pods. The branch also offers private meeting rooms, as well as a smart, envelope-free ATM in the lobby.

Rockland Trust will celebrate the opening with a number of special promotions, including a grand opening raffle open to the general public from Jan. 29 through March 31.

“We’re excited to join the businesses and residents in the heart of Newton’s Needham Street business district,” Bill Matteson, senior vice president of retail branch administration at Rockland Trust, said in a statement. “Betty’s passion for building long-term relationships will provide the community with a caring and delightful experience when they walk into our branch.”

Velasquez joins Rockland Trust with nearly two decades of banking experience that includes business development, mortgage lending and consumer lending. She was most recently a financial center manager at Bank of America and was previously a branch manager at Citizens Bank. She is also a member of the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce and volunteers at VNA Care and the Pine Street Inn.
