Rockpoint Group’s 99 Summer St. in Boston’s Financial District is the latest office tower lobby making the transition from a waiting room to high-energy gathering spot.

Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction recently completed a two-phase renovation project at the 20-story tower, creating a bright and art-filled space with banquettes for small meetings and pendant lighting.

Designed by CBT Architects, the project added a new Pilkington curtain wall at the Summer Street entrance, back-painted glass, stone flooring and glass turnstiles. Stadium seating replaced a traditional stairway, and a game room and conference center were added to the mezzanine.

Shawmut earlier was selected for corporate renovations at 116 Huntington and 75-105 Federal St., and is participating in current projects at DivcoWest’s Cambridge Crossing and Midwood Investment & Development’s One Milk Street renovations at Downtown Crossing.
