A Houston developer is updating a 64,736-square-foot biomanufacturing and R&D building acquired from Alexandria Real Estate Equities to attract new tenants.

McCord acquired the former GlaxoSmithKline-occupied building at 30 Bearfoot Road in Northborough for $3.35 million and has launched a renovation project to the 1986 building, which features robust primary and standby power, lab waste sanitary system, mechanical mezzanines and 18-foot clear heights.

“The past months have highlighted the importance and complexity of biology,” McCord’s Boston-based partner, Quentin Hart, said in a statement. “At McCord, we understand the importance of creating spaces that can facilitate rapid development and production of discoveries that are vital to the future of biomedical advances.”
