A major Boston development company has just named a new chief investment officer who will take over the role from its founder and CEO.

The Davis Cos. Managing Director Quentin Reynolds will take over the CIO role from CEO Jonathan Davis. Davis will continue to lead the firm and play a central role in investment strategy-setting and decision-making as CEO and a member of the firm’s investment committee.

Reynolds has been the firm’s managing director for seven years, heading the 14-person investment team, and is a member of the investment committee of each of the firm’s funds. During that time he and his team have originated over $4 billion of investments for The Davis Cos.’ four value-add real estate funds and for a number of non-fund investments.

In the CIO role, Reynolds will continue to lead the firm’s deal origination and investment underwriting team. He will also share responsibility for investment strategy-setting and oversee The Davis Cos.’ fund-level portfolio construction and overall risk management.

“Quentin is a highly valued member of our senior team and a great investor and steward of capital,” Davis said in a statement. “He has played a key role in developing and implementing our investment strategy for years and has proven he is well-suited to succeed me as CIO. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Quentin in investing our current fund.”

Prior to joining The Davis Cos., Reynolds spent more than 15 years in real estate finance and investment management at Silverpeak Real Estate Partners and its predecessor, Lehman Brothers, where he was involved in the acquisition, financing and management of opportunistic real estate investments across a broad array of markets, property types and capital structures.

“I look forward to continuing to support The Davis Cos.’ efforts to provide strategic investment opportunities to our clients,” Reynolds said in a statement. “It’s been my pleasure to work with Jon and the experienced, passionate, highly diverse team that we have assembled at Davis.”
