Fenway-based fitness wearables company Whoop has chosen Related Beal’s under-construction One Kenmore Square development for its new corporate headquarters and home base for approximately 1,000 employees.

The company plans to occupy all 121,000 square feet in the Commonwealth Building in early 2022, part of a 326,000-square-foot, two-building redevelopment of former Boston University properties. The transaction includes eight floors of office space and a portion of the Commonwealth Building’s first-floor retail space.

Whoop’s new headquarters will house departments ranging from engineering and data science to marketing and product design. The company has steadily expanded at Samuels & Assoc.’s 401 Park Drive and 1325 Boylston St. in recent years.

Its growth has been fueled by venture capital investment including a $100 million series E financing round in October 2020.

JLL’s Robert Jangro represented Whoop in the transaction while Related Beal was represented by Newmark’s David Martel, Michael Greeley and Jason Cameron.
