George Receiving AwardGeorge F. Sullivan Jr., chairman of the board at Worcester-Bay State Savings Bank, has retired after 40 years of service. In addition to his role as chairman, Sullivan is treasurer at Sullivan, Garrity & Donnelly Insurance in Worcester.

John H. McCabe, current vice chair of Bay State’s board of directors and corporate vice president and executive advisor to the CEO at Nypro in Clinton, has been elected to replace Sullivan.

Bay State Savings Bank dedicated its board room to the retiring chairman at its annual meeting on May 29 and awarded Sullivan with a bronze plaque.

Also at the meeting, the following individuals were named corporators at the bank:

• James Cahn, partner at Cahn & Barron LLC

• Gerald Maddaus Jr., attorney in Worcester

• Tracey Porcaro, vice president at Robert Powers Insurance in Worcester

• Iain McKinlay, owner of McKinlay’s Liquors in Holden

• Christopher Powers, senior vice president at Benefit Development Group in Worcester

• Michele Sloan, owner of W.J. Hoey Tire Co. in Worcester

"Corporators function as ambassadors for the bank and are selected by the trustees because they have strong community networks and are successful in their professions," Bay State Savings Bank President and CEO Peter Alden said in a statement. "They are an excellent source for referrals and for providing feedback on the bank’s customer service. We look forward to their contributions and advice as we continue to serve our local community."
