CBRE Group has acquired the joint venture partner that leads its New England operations, with seven offices employing more than 1,200 people.

The acquisition announced Tuesday will bring the CBRE/New England group under the CBRE corporate umbrella immediately, CBRE said. Terms were not disclosed. The CBRE/New England brand will be retired at the end of 2018.

CBRE/New England managed more than 100 million square feet of commercial property with offices in Boston, Hartford, New Haven, Providence, Portsmouth and Manchester, New Hampshire and Portland, Maine.

The firm’s presence in the Greater Boston market received a major boost in February when 48 members of Transwestern’s local team joined CBRE/New England.

“Joining forces with CBRE along with Steve Purpura and our new colleagues will ensure CBRE’s market leadership in the New England market for the foreseeable future,” Andy Hoar, president and co-managing partner of CBRE/New England said in a statement.

Kevin Doyle is co-managing partner and CFO, and Purpura is vice chairman.

The joint venture was created in 1997 when Whittier Partners Group merged with CB Commercial.
