Citizens has named a new Massachusetts market president.

Lisa Murray takes over from Jerry Sargent, who will continue to oversee the Rhode Island-based bank’s entire New England and upstate New York operations as Citizens’ northeast region executive.

Murray has worked at Citizens for 24 years and currently leads a team that provides strategic and financial advice to not-for-profit organizations and professional services clients such as legal, accounting and consulting firms.

“Massachusetts is a very important market for Citizens and I am looking forward to having Lisa play a greater role in our leadership team here,” Sargent said in a statement. “She already serves as a tireless advocate in the community and as a trusted advisor to her clients. It is a very exciting time for Citizens as we continue to grow and add capabilities to better serve our clients.”
