Svetlana JavakhyanSvetlana Javakhyan has been named vice president of sales at Medford-based Wolfson Cutler Real Estate, working with President and CEO Fred Massa and the team to continue to build the company’s presence in the marketplace.

Javakhyan was previously affiliated with ERA Boston Real Estate, Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams. Her work experience also includes an affiliation with a Boston area commercial real estate firm, as well as with a property management firm where she oversaw two different projects in the Boston suburbs, the company said.

Armenian-born Javakhyan is a classically trained viola and violin player. She studied music in Austria, and in 2000 she auditioned with the Boston Conservatory of Music. A hand injury prevented her from continuing to perform on a regular basis, but she has performed at venues including Lincoln Center and Symphony Hall, as well as in Italy, Germany and Poland. She also performed as a viola soloist at a concert for His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Austria and Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan.

"I have always been interested in business and in real estate," she said in a statement. "Boston is a great city for real estate. I have always been fascinated by this city’s architecture."

Javakhyan serves on the board of directors for the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, an organization that helps provide opportunities for orphans of Armenia. In particular, she helps locate scholarship opportunities for talented orphans so that they can study music. In addition to English, she is fluent in Armenian, Russian and Polish.
