Berkshire Bank employees help build 40 beds for local children as part of the A Bed for Every Child program.

Bay State Savings Bank

Worcester-based Bay State Savings Bank has awarded six $500 scholarships and one four-year, $4,000 scholarship to seven area high school seniors based on their academic achievements, character and service to community.

Berkshire Bank

Boston-based Berkshire Bank employees recently partnered with A Bed for Every Child as a part of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homless to build 40 twin-size beds for local children in need. The donation was a part of the bank’s annual Xtraordinary Day of Service, where the bank closes its offices early to empower employees to volunteer in their local communities. The event is in its fourth year.

Cornerstone Bank

Worcester-based Cornerstone Bank made a $10,000 donation in support of Spencer-based American Legion Gaudette-Kirk Post 138’s Centennial Celebration.

The bank also recently donated $2,500 to Rainbow Child Development Center, an organization that provides quality educational and therapeutic programs and services to more than 200 children and their families living in Worcester.

Liberty Credit Union

Braintree-based Liberty Credit Union gave giving away $11,500 in scholarship money to area students who plan on furthering their education. Each scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and is available to students who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited two or four year college, university, technical or vocational school. The recipients are chosen at random at the annual meeting of members in April.

Leominster Credit Union

During the month of April Leominster Credit Union members and employees collected donations of 1,161 new and used children’s books.  The books were distributed to Leominster Community Coalition, the MOC child care and Head Start center, Sunrise Assisted Living, Fitchburg Public Schools and the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster.

North Brookfield Savings Bank

The manager of North Brookfield Savings Bank’s Palmer branch, Jennifer Plassmann, recently made a visit to the members and staff of the Palmer Senior Center, spending time getting to know the many community members that benefit from the center and its amenities. The bank makes an annual financial contribution to the center.

Savings Bank Life Insurance

The Savings Bank Life Insurance Charitable Foundation donated $40,000 to the American Heart Association to support their mission to help reduce cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
