BayState Savings Bank

Worcester-based BayState Savings Bank recently awarded six $500 scholarships and one four-year, $4,000 scholarship to seven area high school seniors based on their academic achievement, character, and community service history.

Boston Firefighters Credit Union 

The Boston Firefighters Credit Union announced it had awarded two $5,000 college and one $1,000 high school scholarships to the children and grandchildren of local first responders.

Cummings Properties

Woburn-based major suburban office landlord Cummings Properties gave $100,000 to the LivableStreets group, which advocates for innovative and equitable transportation solutions that create safe, affordable and convenient options for all, including transit riders, bicycle riders and pedestrians. The four-year grant will support its Planners of Color Network program, which aims to bring greater diversity and inclusion to the largely white urban planning field.

HarborOne Bank and Rockland Trust

Brockton-based HarborOne Bank and Hanover-based Rockland Trust each donated $100,000 to the Old Colony YMCA to renovate its Youth Division Building at 465 Main St. in downtown Brockton. Both donations will be used to fund a $2.4 million project to restructure an unused ground-level pool area into a state-of-art after-school hub, plus add accessibility and ventilation upgrades, bathroom updates and additional office space.

HarborOne also announced a $10,000 donation to Social Enterprise Greenhouse in Providence, Rhode Island to help it support local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, and 20 college scholarships to area high school seniors, worth a combined $100,000.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union

Lowell-based Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union donated a cart full of toys, called a Smile Station, to Lowell General Hospital. The cart will be used to help calm and entertain young patients, who make up 1 in 5 of the hospital’s Emergency Room patients.

Martha’s Vineyard Bank

Edgartown-based Martha’s Vineyard Bank purchased a 26-foot refrigerated truck to help local nonprofits providing food to islanders in need, and wrapped it with colorful graphics.

North Brookfield Savings Bank

North Brookfield Savings Bank announced the distribution of $10,000 in college scholarships to 10 area high school students.
