Harvard University Employees Credit Union has named Craig Leonard its new president and CEO. Leonard will replace longtime CEO Gene Foley, who will retire on July 17.

Leonard joined HUECU in 2010 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Foley had announced in February that he would retire after 25 years as president and CEO and 40 years at HUECU. A nationwide search was conducted to find Foley’s successor. The credit union’s board said in February that it had engaged the executive search firm KLR Executive Search Group for the search.

“I am excited and honored to be leading such an exceptional organization. We have a dynamic and diverse team that’s focused on the needs of our members and always working to improve itself,” Leonard said in a statement. “I look forward to partnering with the credit union’s board and team members as we continue to enhance HUECU’s culture and build upon our success.”

The HUECU Board and employees look forward to Leonard’s leadership as CEO of HUECU. Leonard’s focus will continue to be on supporting the Credit Union’s members in achieving their financial goals.

“Craig is a strong and thoughtful team-focused leader, a prudent and forward looking financial manager, and strives always to achieve the HUECU mission.” George White, HUECU board chairman, said in a statement.
