Generation Bio will build out a cGMP facility in Waltham after leasing over 100,000 square feet from the developers that acquired the property in December 2020. Cambridge-based Generation Bio develops genetic medicines for rare and prevalent diseases.

Hilco and TPG bought the Seyon Street property as part of a 30-acre, 600,000 portfolio including 43 Foundry Ave. The campus is being repositioned to appeal to growing life science companies with new amenities including a fitness center, cafe, outdoor spaces, conference and collaboration areas, and indoor bike storage.

Cresa Boston provided workplace solutions, labor and financial analytics and transaction management for Generation Bio. Newmark represented ownership in the least transaction.

Generation Bio plans to begin operating the facility for clinical development of its lead hemophilia A treatment in 2023.

They Said It:

“Cresa brought a fresh perspective to our search for a mission critical cGMP manufacturing facility that could accommodate our novel rapid enzymatic synthesis at commercial scale.”
