What: Hager Homestead
Where: 336-338 King St., Littleton
Owner: Massachusetts Cohousing
Built: 2022-2024
Nauset Construction has begun foundation work for a five-building development in Littleton that will be the first co-housing development in New England for seniors.
The Hager Homestead project will comprise 24 privately-owned homes for 55-and-over households clustered around shared open space and a common house with shared amenities.
Designed by Concord, New Hampshire-based Sheldon Pennoyer Architects, the project centers around a historic, three-story, 2,500-square-foot farmhouse built in 1795 in the Federal style. The building will be repositioned as a common house including a dining room, kitchen, community room, library and exercise room.
A 3-story, 15-unit building will be constructed on the former site of an adjacent dental office, and additional residences will be created through a combination of new construction and renovations of a single-family home.
Massachusetts Cohousing LLC is a joint venture between Maynard-based Lexvest Group and Middlesex Senior Cohousing.
They Said It:
“Many seniors are looking for a downsized, community-oriented, environmentally friendly lifestyle, and that’s what Hager Homestead will provide. We’re offering a purposefully designed community where everyone has a say, and where residents can connect with one another to create a real community.”
