A property-wide renovation project is under way at Cambridge’s largest hotel, the 479-room Hyatt Regency, including an updated lobby, updates to 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a new bar and restaurant named Paperback Tavern.

The tavern will feature American fare, cocktails and craft brews in a setting with Charles River and Boston skyline views. In the lobby, a carryout outlet will include a coffee bar and quick meals to go.

Designed by Las Vegas-based Campbell House, the project includes updates to the hotel’s 19 meeting venues with decor that reflects local history and coastal landscapes.

Denver-based KSL Capital Partners acquired the property in 2019 for $227.3 million. Completed in 1976, the 16-story hotel spanning 350,130 square feet is situated on a 3.5-acre parcel overlooking the Charles River.

They Said It:

“We are so excited to infuse a new energy into the property and reintroduce the hotel to today’s traveler. Our position on the iconic Charles River paired with the redesign of our spaces and overall guest experience, will welcome guests and locals alike to rediscover, enjoy and ultimately return.”
