Newton-based Kaplan Construction will lead a renovation and construction project for 229 units of mixed-income housing at the Holyoke Farms property in Holyoke.

The project beginning this summer will renovate 217 two- and three-bedroom townhouses and add a new 3-story, 17,000-square-foot apartment building. A 2-story residential building that contains eight townhouses will be demolished to make way for the new structure.

Concurrent with the ground-up construction, Kaplan will perform “back-to-the-studs” renovations to the 217 remaining apartments’ bathrooms, install energy-efficient boilers and upgrade HVAC equipment and electrical panels.Site work will include parking lot repaving and creation of new pocket parks.

Developer Holyoke Farms Redevelopment LLC is a partnership between Maloney Properties and the Whiting Farms Tenant Association. Other members of the project team include architect Guzman Prufer, Summit Engineers, Wozny/Barbar & Assoc., White Engineering, Plant It Green Landscape Architecture and property manager Maloney Properties.
