King Street Properties and Carlyle Group acquired 830 Winter St. in Waltham for $104.2 million, or $572 per foot, in a reflection of investor demand for biotech-leased office properties in core suburban markets.

Suburban life science developer King Street Properties has been named “Landlord of the Year” by the membership of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board Commercial Brokers Association.

The firm was honored with the award at the CBA’s Achievement Awards dinner last week.

King Street Properties began developing spaces for life-science companies in Greater Boston in 2002 and today is the largest private owner of life sciences in the area. It holds a $1.5-billion portfolio of science-based real estate within the region’s core sub-markets, including Boston, Cambridge, Lexington and Framingham. The firm is also working on several ground-up developments and is permitting a mixed-use project on Western Avenue in Allston called NEXUS, which is anchored by state-of-the art life science research space.

Principals Tom Ragno and Steve Lynch attributed the success of the firm to their talented team.

“We are very proud to receive the award of landlord of the year and want to thank the Commercial Brokers Association for considering us,” Lynch said in a statement. “We pride ourselves on creating places and spaces for our tenants to do groundbreaking work that will have an impact on our world. Thank you to our team of employees, partners and tenants who have made this possible.”
