MassDev TechDollars for Whitin Community Center

MassDevelopment has provided a $100,000 TechDollars loan to the Whitin Community Center (WCC) in Whitinsville.

The WCC will use loan proceeds to update its computer hardware and software systems; enhance its financial and general ledger accounting system; add online registration and payment processing; and upgrade its membership and volunteer tracking systems.

“The Whitin Community Center provides Blackstone Valley with access to important services and recreational activities that allow individuals and families to engage with their community,” MassDevelopment President and CEO Lauren Liss said in a statement.

The WCC is a private nonprofit in Whitinsville that was founded in 1922 by the Whitin family. The WCC serves more than 5,000 members through a variety of health and wellness, recreational, social and family-based programs, services and events.

“The Whitin Community Center is very thankful to MassDevelopment for providing funding for projects that we could not otherwise afford as a nonprofit,” WCC Executive Director Heather Elster said in a statement. “We cannot wait for our customers to experience all the benefits of these exciting changes.”
