A Needham developer is seeking to build 318 apartments steps from the new home of the Worcester Red Sox.

Gold Block Real Estate LLC proposes a 13-story complex spanning over 380,000 square feet that could offer bird’s-eye views of the action at the new $159 million Polar Park, which is scheduled to open May 11.

The Gold Block complex would include nearly 29,000 square feet of retail or restaurant space and a 152-space parking garage, according to a public notice from the Worcester Planning Board. The project site spans eight parcels located between Green, Gold, Plymouth and Washington streets. A public hearing is scheduled for May 5.

The corporation lists Harry Dileo and Thomas J. Keane of Worcester and Christopher Archambault as managers, according to a filing with the secretary of the commonwealth’s office.

Polar Park’s nearing completion has already attracted interest from out-of-town multifamily developers seeking to join the Canal District’s revitalization.

Boston Capital is planning an initial phase of 81 affordable apartments as part of its redevelopment of the 4-acre Table Talk Pies property in Kelley Square.
