Prosecutors say a 65-year-old career criminal who even spent time behind bars for killing a man deserves more than nine years in prison for his latest crime, a Boston bank robbery.

The Boston Globe reports that prosecutors wrote in a court filing Tuesday that Joseph Rachal is “a dangerous individual who has no intention of becoming a law-abiding citizen.”

Rachal was convicted in April of making off with nearly $2,400 during the armed bank robbery in the city’s Brighton neighborhood in November 2015.

Prosecutors say his criminal career began when he was 15. In 1968, he fatally shot a man who had graduated from college two days earlier. He served more than 11 years in prison for the killing after pleading guilty to manslaughter, and continued committing crimes after his release.
