Four months after receiving $1.4 million in seed funding, a Boston-based real estate app developer is opening a San Francisco office to spearhead West Coast expansion.

Founded in 2017 by James Rogers and Zach Gorman, Torii provides homebuyer tools including connections to real estate agents, attorneys and lenders, and pays for buyers’ closing costs. The savings averages $6,132 for Torii clients in Greater Boston, the company said.

In August, Torii announced a $1.4-million round of seed funding to hire additional staff for expansion.

“The decision to expand into the Bay Area was a logical step in our growth strategy,” CEO James Rogers said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to head into 2020 with the ability to do real estate sales in the Bay Area.”
